Love the arts? The second Friday of each month the Chicago Arts District hosts “2nd Fridays Gallery Night.” You can view opening receptions of galleries and artists studios. The event begins at 6 pm and ends at 10 pm. The are over 35 galleries in the area. The Arts District area is from South Halsted to 18th Street.
Chicago is well known for it’s amazing architecture. It’s truly one of kind when it comes to the design of these amazing buildings. The Chicago Architecture Foundation ArchiCenter has tours and exhibits centered around Chicago famous buildings.
The Oriental Museum is a truly fascinating place to visit. This museum showcases historical artifacts,art, and archaeology of the East. You will find some amazing galleries dedicated to Egypt, Persia, Mesopotamia and along with many other exhibits as well. There is even virtual museum for a tour of the museum prior to being closed for renovation.
Love German culture? The perfect time to visit Chicago is on the weekend of September 10, 2010. Chicago’s German American Fest is at Lincoln Plaza. Beginning at 6 pm on Friday evening the open ceremonies start with the German Day Festival. The Von Steuben German Day Parade begins at 2 pm on Saturday. Then on Sunday at noon the German Day Festival continues.
