Maine Getaways

bed and breakfast in maine

Some of the best attractions to visit with the girls while in Maine are the Bed and Breakfasts for which the east coast is famous. Here I have compiled a list of some of the most famous Bed and Breakfast Inns around the capitol city. Ladies, pack your bandboxes and prepare to pamper!

The Benjamin Wales House Bed and Breakfast Inn

The Benjamin Wales House Bed and Breakfast Inn is truly one of Maine’s finest. It is only five miles outside Augusta. You and your girlfriends will love this 1820s inn that includes a library, social room, and beautiful grounds. In fact, this inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Only a short distance away you will find several antique shops; and two miles away sit both the Maine State Capitol and the Maine State Museum, if the gals feel so inclined. Simply staying on-site, however, will be very enjoyable, as you will be able to stroll through their English gardens, pond and falls, and the arbor. Definitely check out this Inn if you plan to visit Augusta Maine with your girlfriends.

Maple Hill Farm Bed and Breakfast Inn
Another inn that is very close to Augusta is the Maple Hill Farm Bed and Breakfast Inn. Only five miles away, this cozy inn offers personal fireplaces and Jacuzzis depending on the rooms you book. In addition, each room has its own settings for air conditioning and heating. The inn serves a full country, custom breakfast every morning, and even can pack it to go if you are heading out to do a bit of exploring. A sauna and hot tub complete the cozy feel of this secluded little spot.

The Newcastle Inn

Twenty-four miles outside the capitol city sits a lovely little inn overlooking the Damariscotta River. The Newcastle Inn is a beautiful, laid-back, and elegant inn that is dedicated to making you feel like family at every visit. it is actually quite small, with wi-fi throughout and a complimentary “guest pantry” (what a fun idea!) for visitors. Breakfast is served every morning, and during the summer it is served outside on the porch. Each room has its own private bath, two of which rooms boast their own jacuzzis. From the shelter of this inn you can visit several light-house coastal points, old-fashioned sea villages, and a very famous auction right down the road. This inn is perfect for one of your Maine girlfriend getaways.

Girls-only Maine getaways must include a bed and breakfast inn at some point. What better place to experience this than near the capitol city? Bed and breakfasts in the area are the perfect place to enjoy silk pajamas, a cup of tea and a scone, and a relaxing visit with all the gals on the porch. Why not try one on your next girlfriend getaway?
