Cool Camping in Utah and Colorado

Whether you are a city girl, a country girl, or somewhere in between, you cannot go wrong with a camping adventure with the girls! Camping can often be out your back door, even if you live in a populous area. However, if you are looking for some cool camping ideas, you cannot go wrong with the neighbor states of Utah and/or Colorado. It is hard to believe how the scenery can change from state to state, but both beautiful with their majestic mountains and canyons. So gather up the girls, some tents and sleeping bags and head out for a peaceful, relaxing adventure in the great outdoors.

Utah Camping: Zion National Park

You can find one of the best places for cool camping in Utah at Zion National Park.  Zion National Park is Utah’s first National Park.  The beautiful array of the gorgeous colors of the canyon placed  against the  bright blue sky is a jaw dropping scene.   This breathtaking scenery is perfect for a relaxing girl getaway.

There are three campgrounds available at Zion National Park: South, Watchman, and Lava Point campgrounds, all have designated camping spots.  In the summer months these campgrounds are full every night. Prepare yourselves ahead of time by making a reservation, if you want to visit in the summer.

Zion National Park offers a wide variety of outdoor activities to indulge in the scenery.  Hiking trails include short hikes  of half an hour to more strenuous ones lasting a duration of eight hours. If you prefer to bicycling, the Pa’rus trail is a paved path for cycling through Zion Canyon Scenic Drive.

For the nature watchers, you can capture the many photographic opportunities. This park offers some of the most amazing scenery from the beautiful colors of wildflowers, fall colors and texture of the canyons.   Enjoy the view of the birds, as there are 271 species habitating in Zion National State Park.

Tours are available at this state park by Rangers. Ranger led activities such as daytime and evening talks, shuttle bus tours, and guided hikes are available at the Zion Lodge and at the Watchman Campground.  Zion Canyon Field Institute offers hiking tours with a wildlife biologist.   There are many outdoor learning experiences to be had here.

Colorado Camping at Mueller State Park

Want to escape, get away from it all and enjoy a breath of fresh air?  Check out some cool camping in Colorado.   Mueller State Park offers a serenity and excitement for your girlfriend getaways. No matter if you are planning vacation or a weekend get away, Mueller Park is must to experience.

Colorado’s finest state park has cabins available for lodging.  The Pine Cabin is suitable for 4 people with 2 bedrooms. The Spruce Cabins sleep 6 people with  3 bedrooms. The Ponderosa sleeps 8 people with 4 bedrooms. All cabins are equipped with a Queen Size bed.  If you really want the great outdoor experience to sleep underneath the stars, then there are 182 campsites to choose from during the summer. All of these are great choices, it just depends on what you and your friends are looking for. Would you rather “rough” it around a campfire, or would you rather be indoors in a comfy bed?

There are plenty of cool activities to do at this Colorado state park. If you love horseback riding there are 19 miles of trails designed for riding. Love to hike?  The visitor center is open all year round to get directions for the self guided trails such as Wapiti Nature Trail #6, Northern Meadow Loop, and Dragonfly Children’s Trail. The visitor center also offers other activities and amphitheater programs.

The state park offers a beautiful scenery for photographers to capture the essence of wildlife. Photo opportunities are abundant with over 50 miles of trails. There are also more breath-taking attractions outside of the park to see.

Local attractions such as the Garden of the Gods have an astounding scenery to leave you in awe and amazement.
