For a sunny and warm girls getaway, book your seat for a flight headed to Arizona. Often known as the snowbirders’ paradise, it is also the perfect place to enjoy a tan with your favorite friends. Here is a sample itinerary of what I would do if I was headed for a weekend of pampering, down to this southwest state.
There is plenty to do throughout the state. Of course, you should visit the Grand Canyon. If you plan to stay one of your nights near the rim, it is highly recommended that you find a hotel outside the park, as they are much more expensive once you start looking at hotels on or in the canyon. Check out this link to find a few hotels to choose from that are close to the park but outside its expensive borders.
Bright Angel Lodge
While you are at the canyon touring, be sure to enjoy a dinner at the Bright Angel Lodge, a restaurant that specializes in steak and chicken in southwestern style. The food and drinks are excellent, and the view from the Angel Room is worth the whole visit. There are also multiple shops for perusal if the summer sun is too much for the visit.
The Sonoran Festival of Fine Art
An Arizona girls getaway is also an ideal time to tour some of the outdoor art markets for which the Southwest is so popular. The Sonoran Festival of Fine Art is one of the most popular open-air events in the state, featuring over 450 members and an amazing atmosphere with some of Arizona’s top artists. It is usually held in March. Check out their website for more information on this year’s festival.
Montezuma Castle National Monument
Montezuma Castle National Monument is another outstanding attraction that will guarantee a day of fun outdoor sightseeing. This monument is the remains of the Sinagua Indians’ amazing cliff dwellings. The dwellings themselves are considered to be the most preserved ancient dwellings in the country. Unfortunately, direct access to the ruins is prohibited; instead of scaling ladders and visiting each ruin, you can walk the concrete trail at the base of the cliffs and tour the museum that has been set up with many of the artifacts from the cliff sites. This is an amazing museum and only a short distance off Interstate 17, exit 287.
The Rancho de los Caballeros Guest Ranch
For a truly out west experience, take your gals to The Rancho de los Caballeros Guest Ranch in Wickenburg, AZ. An Arizona girls vacation on the ranch might be just what all of you need to laugh and unwind on a real ranch. In addition to the ranch-hand activities they offer, they also have a newly-added spa, an 18-hole golf course, and a Caballeros Kids Club for those who cannot leave their children at home.
These four attractions are only a few of the ways that you can fill your Arizona vacation with fun and happiness. An Arizona getaway will help you escape the pressures, cares, and stress of your everyday life and put a little bit of sunshine back into your days.
