Girls Retreat into Acadia National Park, Maine

If you and your girl friends are taking a girls-only tour of Maine, definitely head to the western slopes for some fun and relaxation in the great outdoors. From a weekend camping getaway to only day-long hiking trails to exploring the mountains on horseback, the western side of this coastal state is truly a treasure trove to explore.

Why not pack your backpacks and head out to some all-natural Maine attractions for a weekend in the rough with all your girlfriends? One of the best reasons to have a girls-only camp out is that you can do it your own way. Likewise, you can pack plenty of girly things to do, such as a few colors of nail polish and the tools you need to give each other a pedicure. A bottle of wine, some good books, and a hammock are another fabulous idea for your girlfriend group. The ideas are limitless…just get those gals together and dream up the best vacation you’ve ever had under the open sky.

Of all the places to visit in Maine, the great outdoors on the state’s western borders must be one of the most awe-inspiring places to go. Definitely check out the Acadia National Park. The two main campgrounds are Blackwoods Campground and Seawall Campground. These two are both only about ten minutes from the shore of Frenchman Bay. They both have beautiful sites in the middle of the forest, and allow two tents and one vehicle per site. The Seawall Campground also has shower facilities that can be used before a girly pedicure session (for a fee, of course!). Either one of these campgrounds are ideal situations to enjoy the morning, daytime, and evening relaxation under the open sky with your best friends.

If the idea of a full weekend-long camping retreat doesn’t thrill the souls of all your girlfriends, consider exploring this little gem of a park through their hiking trails. Here are a few of Acadia National Park’s trail system. The Bar Harbor Shore Path is an easy one-mile hike that takes you along the Bar Harbor shore, as the name implies. Another trail, the Wonderland, guides you along a rocky coast and takes you to the tidal pools that grace the Bar Harbor shoreline. The Bowl trail is moderately more difficult. It is a 1.4 mile path that takes you through forest, granite ledges, and by a pond. Any of these trails would make a lovely ladies hiking day while you are all out on your Maine excursion.

It doesn’t matter if your girls want a powder-puff night under the stars or an arduous hike to a spectacular view. Maine’s western slopes are an amazing place to visit with any of your best friends. No matter what the rest of the vacation, be sure that your girls only trip to Maine includes an excursion to the great outdoors.
